Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gim Ruut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruut is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Taree - Soundgarden. Gabriel Rua had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ruut checks the leg kick nicely there.
Ruut ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rua moves away.
Rua throws a quick inside leg kick.
Rua misses with a kick to the body.
Rua closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ruut lands with a good body shot.
Rua tries to land a leg kick but Ruut saw it coming and moves away.
Ruut has Rua up against the cage in a clinch.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ruut has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Ruut gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rua regains guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ruut tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rua defends well and Ruut ends up having to push Rua into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gabriel Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gim Ruut.

Ruut jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rua walks away with a smile on his face. Ruut gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ruut throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ruut shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rua sprawls well. Rua wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ruut gets slowly back to his feet.

Ruut comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rua ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Rua throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ruut chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rua can pounce on him.

Rua walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Ruut checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Rua throws a jab but it's blocked by Ruut.
Ruut takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Rua throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ruut is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rua rather than just go for the knockout.
Ruut has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rua.

Ruut tries to clinch but Rua moves out of range.
Ruut fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rua manages to avoid it.

Ruut's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ruut or perhaps it was just good defense by Rua, which made it look bad.

Ruut is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rua has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Ruut. Oh but Rua has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Ruut goes limp - he's gone! Rua jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Gabriel Rua took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
Gim Ruut spoke after the fight, saying 'Even though it's TWGC, I'm bummed to lose the first match. Damn! '.
