Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ali Basra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ivan Terrible! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A solid leg kick lands there for Basra.
Basra fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Terrible looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Basra scores with a nice head shot. Basra misses with a two punch combination.
Terrible walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Basra checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Basra bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Basra fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Terrible manages to avoid it. Basra cracks Terrible with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Terrible connects with a nice looking jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Terrible misses with a low kick. A chopping leg kick lands by Basra. Terrible blocks a jab. Basra fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Terrible checks it well. Terrible looks for the body kick but Basra saw that one coming. Terrible moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Terrible moves away from the strike by Basra. Basra moves out of range of the strikes. Basra misses with a straight right.
That's one minute gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Basra lands an impressive looking overhand right. Terrible doesn't seem phased though. Terrible takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Basra checks a low kick from Terrible. Basra throws a right hand that Terrible ducks under and follows up with a left that Terrible also avoids with ease. Basra fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Terrible manages to avoid it. Ali Basra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Basra slips a straight right by Terrible. Terrible keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Terrible getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Basra takes a swing at Terrible's ribcage but misses. Terrible cracks Basra with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Terrible staying out of range there. Basra looks to land a left hand but Terrible moved out of range nicely. Basra looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Basra misses with a jab to the body
and Terrible counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Basra's guard now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Basra is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Terrible distracts Basra with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Basra avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Terrible wants to pass the guard but Basra is keeping the position. Basra is pulling down on Terrible's head to control his posture. Terrible tries to free his leg and advance position but Basra is retaining full guard. Basra looking to hit a scissor sweep but Terrible is one step ahead there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Basra keeping full guard, as Terrible tries to pass. Terrible trying to control the position from guard on top but Basra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Basra cracks Terrible with a good jab. Basra throws a series of punches but Terrible moves out of range. Basra scores with a hook to the body. Terrible takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Basra throws a poor cross that misses
and Terrible counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Terrible trying to control but Basra is working from the bottom. Terrible keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Basra's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Basra is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Terrible accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Basra utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Basra is controlling Terrible's posture. Basra is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Terrible is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Terrible won't allow Basra to sweep him here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ali Basra will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

and Terrible counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. An inside leg kick from Terrible misses. Basra misses with an uppercut. Terrible saw that one coming. Basra is looking to slow Terrible down with leg kicks. Ali Basra is winning the standup battle so far. Basra checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Basra scores with a spinning back kick! Basra takes a swing at Terrible's ribcage but misses. Basra tries to clinch there but Terrible circles away.
An inside leg kick lands from Terrible. A combination from Basra does no damage. Basra gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Terrible. Basra staying out of range there. Terrible throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Terrible throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Basra checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Basra lands with a hook. Terrible tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Terrible misses with a looping right. A big right from Basra misses. A swing and a miss from Basra. Terrible keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Terrible keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Basra. A slow jab from Terrible misses its intended target. A slapping leg kick lands for Terrible.
A leg kick checked by Basra. Terrible moves out of range as Basra strikes. Basra scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Basra misses with an uppercut. Terrible saw that one coming. Terrible tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Basra throws a push kick but Terrible slaps the foot to one side. Basra slaps away a takedown attempt from Terrible, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Basra scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Basra swings and misses with a hook to the body.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Basra utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Terrible looking to score a takedown here. Basra is defending well but Terrible drives through and ends up in Basra's guard. Basra not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Basra being controlled here, momentarily. Terrible has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Terrible loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Terrible throws a big right hand that misses. Terrible trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Terrible throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Basra works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Basra looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Terrible trying to control but Basra is working from the bottom. Basra controls Terrible momentarily but Terrible frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ivan Terrible showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Basra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
The fighters circle momentarily. Terrible darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Basra keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Terrible looks for the body kick but Basra saw that one coming. Terrible slips under a jab from Basra. Terrible uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Basra. Terrible misses with a hook. Basra ducked under it nicely. Terrible misses with a body shot.

Terrible thuds a left hand into Basra's body. Basra moves out of range of the body kick. Basra throws a looping overhand right but Terrible ducks down to avoid it. Terrible keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Basra lands a lovely overhand right. Ali Basra is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Basra throws a leg kick that is checked and Terrible counters with a nice leg kick. Terrible lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Basra at a distance.
Terrible tests Basra's chin there with a solid looking shot. Basra takes a swing at Terrible's ribcage but misses. Terrible thumps Basra with a low kick. Terrible takes a swing at Basra's ribcage but misses. Basra lunges at Terrible with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Terrible's hand. A telegraphed right hand from Basra misses the target. Terrible connects with an inside leg kick. A punch combination from Basra misses. Basra swings for the body but Terrible moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Basra throws the left hand but Terrible avoids the punch easily. Basra lands a nice hook to Terrible's body. Terrible takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Basra connects with a body shot that sends Terrible's belly button to the back. Terrible moves out of range of the strikes. Basra throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Terrible counters with a shoot takedown. Basra fights it but they end up in guard. Terrible makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Terrible stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Basra swivels though and keeps the full guard. Terrible trying to control the position from guard on top but Basra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Terrible passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Basra can't do much from the bottom here. Terrible trying to control the position but Basra is working away. Terrible has knee on belly and moves into mount. Terrible content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Basra tries to reverse the position but Terrible maintains control. Terrible sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Basra is squirming around, avoiding Terrible's attempts to control the action. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Basra in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that's the end of the fight! Ivan Terrible comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Terrible has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
