PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Fall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Country boy can survive kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Fall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ratt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes tried to score with a low kick but Fall checks it.
Fall's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hughes under the eye.
Fall definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Fall avoids the body shot from Hughes.
Hughes checks a leg kick nicely.
Fall showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hughes.
Fall looks to land a left hand but Hughes moved out of range nicely.
Hughes throws a lazy right hand but Fall sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Fall tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hughes defends well and Fall ends up having to push Hughes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hughes tries to circle away but Fall has him pinned against the cage.
Fall gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hughes.

Fall breaks the clinch.
Fall tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hughes defends well and Fall ends up having to push Hughes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Hughes is fighting off a takedown attempt but Fall is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hughes to the mat. Hughes regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Hughes has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Fall is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Fall wants to stall.

Hughes goes for a takedown attempt but Fall pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Fall uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hughes.

Hughes lands a nice looking body shot.
Fall fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hughes avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Fall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheers as Fall lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hughes doesn't seem phased though.

Hughes throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fall throws a series of punches but Hughes moves out of range.
Hughes shoots in for a double leg but Fall sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hughes lands a jab to the nose.
Hughes on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Fall throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hughes was covering up waiting for the punch and Fall finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fall has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ratt Hughes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Hughes tries to sprawl but Fall drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Fall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hughes keeps working.

Fall is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hughes defends it well.

Hughes wants to stand up but Fall is controlling him.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hughes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fall has managed to get both his arms back between Hughes's legs - danger averted.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hughes holds on and takes a little breather.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hughes pulls Fall in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hughes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hughes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fall haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

and Fall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hughes won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hughes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fall won't allow Hughes to sweep him here.
Hughes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Fall with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Fall shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hughes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Hughes is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fall shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Fall takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hughes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fall.
Fall fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Fall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hughes looks to score with a jab to the body but Fall is just out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Fall is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hughes's shoulder. That is not cool.

Fall working over Hughes with some ground and pound. Hughes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Hughes regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hughes controls Fall momentarily but Fall frees himself.
Fall is pushing down on Hughes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hughes is fighting to maintain full guard but Fall has managed to sneak the leg through.
Fall seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Fall thows a huge punch but Hughes dodges it nicely.
Hughes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fall is keen to just control but Hughes is a slippery customer.

Well Fall has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Jack Fall rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
