The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Tanaka avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tanaka slow jab from Johnson misses its intended target.

Johnson looks for a takedown but Tanaka sprawls well.

David Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Tanaka which made him look bad.

Johnson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tanaka bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tanaka is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Johnson is trying to escape and Tanaka transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Johnson is forced to tap! Nice work there by Tanaka! Very nice indeed!
