Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jasper Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Trickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jasper Slater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Trickson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trickson misses with a head kick.

Trickson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Slater to the mat! Slater manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Trickson sitting in guard here, content to control.
Trickson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Trickson wanted to stand there but Slater had control of the position.
Slater really is a fat lump.

Slater looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Trickson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Trickson throwing strikes but missing.
Trickson wants to stand but Slater is controlling his posture from full guard.
Trickson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Slater doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Trickson tries to free his leg and advance position but Slater is retaining full guard.

Slater controlling the position.
Trickson is looking to pass into half guard but Slater pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Slater is in guard.
Trickson wants to sweep but no luck.

We're going to have a standup here because Jasper Slater wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Slater is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Slater wants to clinch up but Trickson keeps it at a distance.
Slater tries to close the distance and clinch but Trickson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jasper Slater seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Trickson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Slater was covering up waiting for the punch and Trickson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Trickson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Slater is proving hard to escape from.

Trickson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slater is keeping the position for now.
Slater looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Trickson trying to control the position from guard on top but Slater is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Trickson stands and throws Slater's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Slater wants to control but Trickson postures up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Trickson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slater throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Trickson tries to move to mount but Slater blocks the move with his legs.
Trickson lands an elbow.
Slater sneaks back into half guard.
Trickson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Slater with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Trickson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Trickson looks winded!
Trickson trying to mount his opponent but Slater defends it.
Trickson trying to control from Slater's half guard. Slater has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Trickson is still trying to improve position.

Slater managing to control the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Slater wants to stand but Trickson is controlling the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jasper Slater.

Slater gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slater trying to keep a closed guard but Trickson is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Trickson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Slater moves out of range of the strikes.
Slater tries to clinch up but Trickson circles away and keeps his distance.

Trickson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Slater trying to control here.

Trickson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Slater doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Trickson.
Slater might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Trickson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Slater's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slater is looking for a sweep. Trickson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Trickson is looking to advance position but Slater won't allow it.
Ryan Trickson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Slater tries to roll over but Trickson keeps him under control.

Trickson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Trickson wants to free his trapped foot but Slater is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slater is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Trickson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Slater doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Trickson.
Trickson is breathing heavily.
Trickson is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Slater reverses the position - he's now on top in Trickson's guard.

Slater gets to his feet. Trickson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Slater throws a body shot but no joy.

Slater has managed to clinch.

Slater jumps into guard, dragging Trickson to the mat.
Slater keeping moving, preventing Trickson from controlling successfully.
Trickson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slater is keeping the position for now.

Slater pulls Trickson in close to prevent any damage.

Trickson wants to hit a switch here but Slater passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Trickson there!
Trickson is looking to get to half guard.
Slater lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Trickson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ryan Trickson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Trickson circles away from the clinch attempt.

Trickson drives through with a takedown into Slater's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Trickson is working for a submission of some sort.

Trickson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Slater is just riding it out for now. Trickson eventually gives up the hold.
Trickson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Slater is looking to control Trickson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Slater avoid being mounted?
Slater is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Trickson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Trickson's back!
Slater misses with an elbow to the head.
Trickson can't escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Slater seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Trickson's chin but Trickson turns very nicely into Slater's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Trickson.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Slater wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jasper Slater has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Slater doesn't manage to clinch there - Trickson circles away.
Slater tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trickson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Slater tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Slater lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Trickson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trickson with the ground and pound but Slater regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Slater makes his way to full guard, as Trickson worked for a kimura.
Slater pulls Trickson in close to his closed guard and prevents Trickson from doing any damage or advancing position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ryan Trickson.
I've got Trickson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
