Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evander Holyshit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenichi Shirahama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holyshit comes to the cage accompanied by You're gonna die!. Shirahama is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Fade To Black. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Holyshit misses.
Holyshit swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
No luck for Shirahama with that takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Holyshit as Shirahama shoots in.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Holyshit scores with the left hand. Shirahama knows he should have avoided that one.
Holyshit moves in looking to clinch but Shirahama pushes him off.

and Shirahama takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Evander Holyshit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenichi Shirahama.
Shirahama uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Holyshit.

Holyshit scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Holyshit will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Holyshit walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Shirahama checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Holyshit rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shirahama counters with a shoot takedown. Holyshit fights it but they end up in guard.

My spies in Ryōzanpaku Dojo inform me that Shirahama has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Shirahama trying to control the position from guard on top but Holyshit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shirahama can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Holyshit controls the pace.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shirahama looks to move to half guard but instead Holyshit has passed into mount! Damn!

Shirahama keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Holyshit trying to control but Shirahama is having none of it.
Shirahama tries to hold on but Holyshit postures up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shirahama is in a horrible position here. Holyshit smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evander Holyshit dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Evander Holyshit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Holyshit throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shirahama tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Holyshit throws a big shot that misses.
Shirahama doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Holyshit counters with a good, hard body kick but Shirahama shrugs it off.

Holyshit throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Holyshit trying to control from half guard but Shirahama is working away.
Holyshit is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shirahama can do to turn this around?
Shirahama is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Holyshit's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Holyshit's back!
Holyshit is trying to defend against the choke here but Shirahama has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Shirahama Tightens the hold and Holyshit taps out furiously! Shirahama displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
