Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vijay Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Putnam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Putnam has chosen tap out as his entrance music. Ronnie Putnam is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vijay Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ronnie Putnam!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Putnam closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Singh did well to prevent Putnam getting side control.
Putnam wants to pass the guard but Singh is defending well.
Putnam trying to control the pace.
Putnam is thwarting Singh's attempts to control the position.
Putnam wants to take a breather but Singh is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ronnie Putnam was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Singh lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Putnam keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vijay Singh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Putnam shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Singh as he avoids it easily.

Putnam dives in and grabs Singh's left leg, looking for a takedown. Singh pushes down on Putnam's head and hops out.

Putnam jumps guard but Singh stands there with Putnam around his waist. Putnam gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Putnam has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Jef Li's MMA(13 coaches, 49 cap). Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Vijay Singh will probably get the nod.

Singh rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Putnam moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vijay Singh will probably get the nod.

Singh will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Putnam changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Singh tries to avoid it but Putnam manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Singh to the ground. Singh escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
