PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abel Henson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allen Snapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Snapp's choice of entrance music: Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Abel Henson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Allen Snapp!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Henson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Snapp looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Henson is chipping away with strikes.
Henson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Snapp is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Henson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Snapp sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Henson decides to stand back up. Henson steps back and let's Snapp get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Snapp is trying to stand up here but Henson is controlling him well.
Still in half guard, Henson seems content to control.
Henson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Snapp with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Well, if Henson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Henson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Snapp with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Henson connects with a nice short shot to Snapp's temple.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Henson tries to score a body lock takedown but Snapp shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Snapp is trying to force a seperation but Henson has the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Snapp is trying to defend but Henson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Snapp wants to get back to his feet.

Snapp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Henson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Henson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Snapp pushes Henson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Henson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Henson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Henson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Snapp some visible discomfort.

Henson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Henson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Henson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Snapp can do to turn this around?

Snapp takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Henson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Abel Henson.
