PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between El Ka Bong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lias Kota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bong comes to the cage accompanied by ULTRAMAGNETIC MCs - Ego Trippin. El Ka Bong has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, El Ka Bong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lias Kota!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bong thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bong ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bong is defended easily by Kota.
Kota dives in and grabs Bong's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bong pushes down on Kota's head and hops out.
Kota gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kota takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kota looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bong is fending him off so far but Kota persists. Nope, Bong circles away and we're back to standing.
El Ka Bong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lias Kota.
Bong throws out a loose jab but Kota uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kota tries for a takedown but Bong circles away easily
and Bong counters with a nice uppercut.
Kota fails with the takedown
and Bong connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Lias Kota has been cut.
Bong lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kota backs up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kota fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Kota closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kota lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kota postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bong controls Kota momentarily but Kota frees himself.

Bong looking for a guillotine here but Kota defends easily.
Kota pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bong is keeping the position for now.

Kota loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bong had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kota defends it easily.
Kota missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kota is fighting to break Bong's control of his arms but Bong is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kota working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kota content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

It looks like El Ka Bong has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bong keeping full guard, as Kota tries to pass.
Bong wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bong manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bong looking to secure an arm triangle but Kota defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kota regains half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bong looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

El Ka Bong dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Bong's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bong throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've been told by Bong's head coaches at Great Bash Heel that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bong blocks a head kick by Kota.
Bong takes a swing at Kota's ribcage but misses.
Lias Kota is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kota doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bong counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kota closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bong circles away.
Kota fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
El Ka Bong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lias Kota.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A punch lands to the side of Kota 's head but he takes it in his stride.
El Ka Bong is winning the standup battle so far.
Kota misses with a takedown attempt
and Bong counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kota is breathing heavily.
Bong throws a head kick but Kota moves out of range.
Bong lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
The fighters circling - Bong throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kota with a poor takedown
and Bong counters with a straight right hand.


The cut above Lias Kota's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Kota walks into a straight right hand from Bong.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kota drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bong is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kota is aware though and is defending well.
Bong wants to sweep but no luck.
Bong is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bong thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bong is controlling the pace.
Bong drops an elbow to the side of Kota's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bong not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Bong is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kota doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bong.
Kota has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bong is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kota defends it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kota is defending against the submission attempts here by Bong.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kota goes for a double leg but Bong avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bong continues to drive forward.
Bong lands a body shot in the clinch.
Kota takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
With the fighters up against the cage, Bong throws an elbow but misses.
A short uppercut from Bong.
Bong gets underhooks to prevent Kota's takedown attempt.
A nice left hand lands by Bong.

Bong manages to break the clinch.
Kota uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bong.
Kota shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bong counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kota misses with a double jab
and Bong connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lias Kota has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kota shoots in looking for a takedown but Bong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kota's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bong scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Kota gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Bong to counter with a crisp jab.


Lias Kota's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Lias Kota's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). El Ka Bong!
El Ka Bong decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
