Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicolas De Ertu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nathan Cortez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nathan Cortez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicolas De Ertu! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cortez lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Nicolas De Ertu has been cut. A cross from Cortez lands.
De Ertu is rocked! De Ertu scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. De Ertu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no De Ertu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. De Ertu stands up and we're back to a striking position. Cortez scores with a jab to the body. De Ertu fails miserably with a takedown attempt. De Ertu forces Cortez back against the ropes and clinches. De Ertu looking to slow down the pace here. Cortez manages to break the clinch.
De Ertu is looking to clinch but Cortez is avoiding it.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Ertu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cortez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice sprawl there from Cortez as De Ertu shoots in. Cortez slaps away a takedown attempt from De Ertu, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nathan Cortez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicolas De Ertu. De Ertu has managed to clinch.
De Ertu tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cortez smiles and moves away.
De Ertu throws a right and a left that both miss. De Ertu shoots in looking for a takedown but Cortez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing De Ertu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. De Ertu doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cortez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. De Ertu has closed the distance and engaged Cortez in a clinch.
De Ertu has hold of one of Cortez's legs. Cortez is fighting the takedown attempt but De Ertu gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cortez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cortez looking for a guillotine here but De Ertu defends easily.
De Ertu has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cortez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! De Ertu is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cortez pulls down on the head and he's put De Ertu to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nathan Cortez! After winning the bout, Nathan Cortez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
