Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Monte Franks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Llyr Reynolds!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reynolds gets a double leg takedown into Franks's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reynolds stands up over Franks, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Franks trying to keep a closed guard but Reynolds is proving a slippery customer.
Reynolds wants to pass the guard but Franks is keeping the position.
Reynolds makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Reynolds passes Franks's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Reynolds thows a huge punch but Franks dodges it nicely.
Reynolds seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Franks makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Franks.
Franks is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Reynolds wants to pass the guard but Franks is keeping the position.

Franks tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reynolds is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Llyr Reynolds hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Horrible takedown attempt by Reynolds or perhaps it was just good defense by Franks, which made it look bad.

Reynolds clinches with his opponent.
Franks lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Reynolds breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Reynolds gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Franks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Reynolds closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Reynolds lands in his opponent's guard.

Franks throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Franks is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Reynolds is stalling in the full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Reynolds would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Llyr Reynolds wasn't active enough on the ground.
Reynolds uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Franks.
Franks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Reynolds as he avoids it easily.
Reynolds misses with a leg kick.
Reynolds changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Franks tries to avoid it but Reynolds manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Franks to the ground. Franks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Franks tries to sprawl but Reynolds drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Reynolds wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franks keeps working.
Franks is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Reynolds missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Reynolds is trying to work for a kimura but Franks is defending well.
Reynolds trying to mount his opponent but Franks defends it.
It looks like Reynolds is going to stand back up.
Franks is looking for a sweep. Reynolds is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Llyr Reynolds dominated that round.

Franks throws a strike but Reynolds rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

and Reynolds cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

The fight stays on the outside here - Reynolds looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Reynolds. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Franks tries a head kick but it misses.

Reynolds shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Franks napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Reynolds wants to stand but Franks is controlling his arm.
Reynolds lands a nice forearm strike.
Franks tries to buck Reynolds off but Reynolds is having none of it.

Franks takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Llyr Reynolds showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Reynolds throws a body kick that misses.
Llyr Reynolds seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Franks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reynolds is fending him off so far but Franks persists. Nope, Reynolds circles away and we're back to standing.

Reynolds looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Franks!
Reynolds tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Franks is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Let's hope that Reynolds has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Reynolds is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Franks has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Franks is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Franks is bucking up trying to escape but Reynolds cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
