PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samson Savea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think White might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to R.Kelly- The worlds greatest. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, James White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Samson Savea!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savea has a takedown stuffed.
The fighters circling - White throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Savea keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from White.

Savea clinches up with White and pushes him back against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for White.

Savea pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Savea seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Savea wants to stand and escape but White is having none of it.
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Savea is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
White prevents Savea from getting back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Savea moves into the clinch.
White jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Savea walks away with a smile on his face. White gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

White has an active guard here but Savea has managed to pass into half guard.
Savea seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but White does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

White is defending against the submission attempts here by Savea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Savea thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Savea is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but White still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, White has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Savea is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Savea is looking to reverse the position.

White goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Savea rolls with the submission and now he's on top in White's guard! Nice work there by Savea!
Savea keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of White's head.
Savea wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.
Savea postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Savea passes easily into side control. Nice work.

White is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Savea tries for a kimura but White is defending well.

White manages to get back to half guard.
Savea is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for White!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Savea tries to control but White wriggling away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Savea looking to control but White is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
White sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Savea is trying to control the action in half guard but White is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samson Savea dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


White fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

White throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Savea rushes White and presses him up against the cage.

Savea breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Savea shoots in but no luck this time.
Savea closes this distance looking for a takedown but White circles away.
Savea shoots for a double leg takedown but White sprawls well. He's pushed Savea's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
James White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samson Savea.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
White looks to land a left hand but Savea moved out of range nicely.
White misses with a hook.
White throws a looping overhand right but Savea ducks down to avoid it.
Savea is breathing heavily.
White misses with an uppercut. Savea saw that one coming.
James White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Savea uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White.
White rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Savea counters by clinching up.
Savea tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. White just stands there and leans against the cage.
Savea lands a nice shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White jumps guard but Savea turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Savea digs a right hand underneath White's ribcage. White let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Savea has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics White uses from the top position.
Savea is looking to stand up but White isn't so interested in that idea.
Savea wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

White gets to his feet - Savea follows without any prompting.
Savea doesn't manage to clinch there - White circles away.
It's a brutal combination of punches from White! Savea is backing up but he can't get away as White lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Savea and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). James White!
A relieved looking James White thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
