Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hubert Vazquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Karlov!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karlov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Vazquez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vazquez.
Vazquez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Vazquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Vazquez, not yet.
Vazquez looking for a guillotine here but Karlov defends easily.
Karlov trying to control the position from guard on top but Vazquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vazquez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Karlov tries a knee to the head but Vazquez blocks it.
Karlov prevents Vazquez from breaking the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Karlov manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Karlov is working an open guard so Vazquez takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Karlov looks winded!
Vazquez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Karlov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vazquez escapes and gets back to his feet.
Vazquez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Karlov to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Vazquez has his foot on Karlov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Karlov works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vazquez looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Karlov is defending well. Vazquez quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Karlov has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Vazquez celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
