Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Okin Slavas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phan Tran Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slavas comes to the cage accompanied by WolfMother. Le has chosen Dukes of Hazard Theme Song - Waylon Jennings as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Okin Slavas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phan Tran Le! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slavas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Le bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Slavas jabbing away but nothing is landing. Slavas rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Le cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A looping hook to the body misses from Slavas. Le does a little dance to reset his feet. Slavas loads up on a big right hand but Le slips the punch. Slavas scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Le doesn't seem bothered though. Slavas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Le blocking the ground and pound attempt from Slavas. Slavas missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Slavas is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Slavas is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Le wants to control but Slavas is keeping busy and won't allow it. Slavas thows a huge punch but Le dodges it nicely.
Slavas not landing any meaningful shots this time. Slavas throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Le to regain full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slavas postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Le is trying to control the position but Slavas postures up. We've been hearing good reports from Slavas's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Slavas content to stall in guard here. Slavas looking to pass the guard. Le looking to hit a scissor sweep but Slavas is one step ahead there. Le keeping moving, preventing Slavas from controlling successfully. Slavas with a flurry of punches that miss. Slavas trying to move into half guard but instead Le has managed to sweep! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slavas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Le defends it easily. Slavas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Slavas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Le must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Le would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Slavas looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Le stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slavas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Le is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Le trying to control but Slavas is working from the bottom. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Slavas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Le takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Le moves out of range of the strikes. Slavas loads up on a big right hand but Le slips the punch. Slavas throws a looping overhand right but Le ducks down to avoid it. Slavas lands an overhand right. Slavas takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Le tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slavas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Le connects with the punch. Slavas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Le fails in his attempt to clinch. A jab from Le misses. Slavas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Le was well out of range. Poor timing from Slavas. Slavas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Le moves away. Slavas smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Le stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Le wants it to stay on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slavas bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Le lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slavas circles away quickly and effectively. Okin Slavas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Slavas feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Les jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Le throws a lazy right hand but Slavas sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Le misses the jab. Slavas throws a shot from downtown. Le moves away and avoids it. Slavas just misses with a punch to the body.
Slavas moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Slavas scores with a hook to the body. Le takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Le avoids a lazy jab quite easily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A looping hook to the body misses from Le. Slavas does a little dance to reset his feet. Le pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Slavas back to the cage. Le follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. A slow jab from Slavas misses its intended target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Okin Slavas dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Le looks to land a combination but Slavas avoids it well. Okin Slavas is winning the standup battle so far. Slavas tests Le's chin there with a solid looking shot. Slavas shoots in but Le avoids the takedown attempt easily. Le throws a series of punches but Slavas avoids them all with ease. Le lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Slavas ducks under a wild hook from Le. Le on the wrong end of a nice hook. Le displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Slavas throws out the jab. Le ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Le throws a hook to the side of Slavas's head but Slavas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Le fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Slavas, pushing him back against the cage. Le breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Le looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Le on the wrong end of a nice jab. Le throws a body shot but no joy. Slavas throws a lazy uppercut
letting Le counter with a right hand. Slavas digs a good body shot into Le's ribs. Le tries to clinch but Slavas moves out of range. Slavas bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Le's head. Slavas scores with a takedown into Le's guard. Le is adopting a defensive guard. Slavas tries to free his leg and advance position but Le is retaining full guard. Slavas trying to control the position from guard on top but Le is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Le is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Le thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Slavas's head. Slavas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are battling for position here. Slavas manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Le slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Slavas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Le preventing the sweep. Le trying to control but Slavas is working from the bottom. Slavas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slavas is trying to control the position but Le postures up. Slavas wants to sweep here but Le controlling him for the moment. Slavas lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Slavas throwing strikes but missing. Slavas stops Le from standing up. Slavas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Slavas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Le swivels though and keeps the full guard. Le uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Slavas keeps the fight on the outside. A telegraphed right hand from Slavas misses the target. Le ducks under a wild hook from Slavas. Slavas scores with a takedown into Le's guard. Le looking to control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Le seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Slavas passes into half guard. Slavas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Le keeps working. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Le wants to control but Slavas is keeping busy.
Le keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Okin Slavas dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Slavas shoots in and drives through. Le sprawls well. Slavas swats away the attempt to clinch by Le. Nice straight punches there by Le. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Le. Slavas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Le throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Slavas sees it coming and avoids it easily. Slavas circles away from the clinch attempt.
Slavas thuds his right hand into Le's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Le misses the shot to the body. Le throws a one two combo.
Slavas takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Le moves into range and connects with a jab. Le throws a leg kick but Slavas checks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slavas shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Slavas showed some decent athleticism there. Nice strikes from Slavas there. Slavas winds up and cracks Le with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Slavas scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Slavas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Le does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Okin Slavas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Le trying to control but Slavas postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Le looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Slavas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Le has managed to free his arm - good work. Slavas missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Le makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Le. Slavas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Le looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Le looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Le! Slavas is looking for a sweep. Le wants to stand but Slavas is controlling his arm. Phan Tran Le has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slavas is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Le decides to take the fight back to the feet. Slavas tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Le defends well and Slavas ends up having to push Le into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Okin Slavas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Le creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Slavas's defenses. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Le. Le digs a right hand underneath Slavas's ribcage. Slavas let out a lung full of air as it connected. Le is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Slavas is defending well for now. Le is leaning against Slavas and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Le landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Le scores with a hook to the body. Okin Slavas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slavas blocks an elbow strike from Le.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Le creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Le lands an elbow inside that Slavas shrugs off. Le manages to break the clinch.
Slavas scores with a jab to the body. Le throws a hook but Slavas blocks it. Slavas misses with a body shot.

and Le counters with a nice body shot. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Le missing with a left hand there. Slavas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Slavas lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Phan Tran Le is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Le stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Le wants it to stay on the feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Phan Tran Le comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Slavas has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Okin Slavas! In his post fight interview, Okin Slavas started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. In defeat, Phan Tran Le stepped up to the mic, saying 'You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!'.
