PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bjaadi Peebles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack the Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peebles kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Apocalyptica & Sandra Nasic - Path. Jack the Ripper struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack the Ripper!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
the Ripper fails with a takedown attempt.
the Ripper swings away with a leg kick that misses.
the Ripper drops Peebles with a left and a right! Oh, Peebles is hurt - the Ripper dives into side control looking to finish!

Peebles manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

the Ripper prevents Peebles from improving his position.
Peebles might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
the Ripper trying to control the action but Peebles is working from the bottom.
the Ripper is thwarting Peebles's attempts to control the position.
Peebles is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of the Ripper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take the Ripper's back!
Peebles is looking to control the Ripper but the Ripper is wriggling around and keeping busy.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Peebles's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peebles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. the Ripper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. the Ripper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

the Ripper had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Peebles is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. the Ripper Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Peebles's back instead.
Will the Ripper go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Peebles holds on to the Ripper around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
Peebles tries to lock up and control but the Ripper gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

the Ripper has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Peebles's face.

Peebles is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
the Ripper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
the Ripper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bjaadi Peebles showed his dominance in that final round.
