PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ealdriht Ealdriht (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dylan Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ealdriht Ealdriht!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ealdriht misses with a head kick.

Ealdriht gets a clinch.

Ealdriht jumps guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Peterson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ealdriht's guard.
Ealdriht trying to strike off his back.
Peterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Peterson postures up.
Ealdriht wants to stand up but Peterson is controlling him.
Ealdriht trying to keep a closed guard but Peterson is proving a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ealdriht looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Peterson striking off his back but it's not causing Ealdriht any problems.

Ealdriht sitting in guard here, content to control.
Peterson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ealdriht tries to free his leg and advance position but Peterson is retaining full guard.
Ealdriht keeps trying to improve his position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ealdriht Ealdriht hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Peterson gets caught napping as Ealdriht dives in and scores a takedown. Peterson manages to retain guard.

Peterson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ealdriht is aware though and is defending well.
Peterson really is a fat lump.
Peterson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ealdriht is one step ahead there.
Ealdriht's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Peterson is trying to keep Ealdriht in close.
Peterson wants to sweep here but Ealdriht controlling him for the moment.
Ealdriht wants to pass the guard but Peterson is keeping the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ealdriht shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Peterson is trying to maintain the position but Ealdriht is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ealdriht stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Ealdriht closes the distance and clinches.
Peterson jumps guard but Ealdriht stands there with Peterson around his waist. Peterson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ealdriht breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Peterson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ealdriht keeping hold of Peterson's head, controlling as best he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ealdriht looking for submissions off his back.
Ealdriht keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Peterson trying to control from half guard but Ealdriht is working away.
Peterson trying to control from Ealdriht's half guard. Ealdriht has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ealdriht controls Peterson momentarily but Peterson frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ealdriht Ealdriht dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Ealdriht shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Peterson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Peterson manages to get back to half guard.
Ealdriht controlling the pace.
Peterson works his way to full guard. Good work.
Ealdriht throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ealdriht is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Ealdriht trying to control the position from guard on top but Peterson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ealdriht Ealdriht was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Ealdriht gets the takedown into side control.
Ealdriht lands an elbow.
Peterson sneaks back into half guard.
Ealdriht wants to pass the guard but Peterson is defending well.
Peterson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ealdriht.
Ealdriht is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Peterson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ealdriht's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ealdriht's back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Peterson is persistently looking for the submission but Ealdriht is defending it well.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ealdriht. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Peterson gets his hands free as Ealdriht looks to control.
Peterson wants to control but Ealdriht is keeping busy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.







Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.













Dylan Peterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.








Ealdriht Ealdriht seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.










































































































































































































































Ealdriht is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.


We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
