Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Smalls.
Smalls attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Maciej Zegan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zegan tries a head kick but it misses.
Zegan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smalls manages to avoid it.
An inside leg kick from Zegan misses.
Zegan tried to score with a low kick but Smalls checks it.
Zegan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Smalls counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zegan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smalls. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smalls throws a strike but Zegan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Zegan has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zegan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Smalls looks up at the clock and then as Zegan takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Smalls smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Smalls wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zegan, who protects the arm well.

Smalls has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Zegan is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Smalls asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Smalls is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Zegan is trying to escape and Smalls transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Zegan is forced to tap! Nice work there by Smalls! Very nice indeed!
