Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between TJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is DMX - Bad Boy. Slater is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Terminator Theme. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, TJ Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Slater! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Slater. Penn steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Slater. Penn feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Slater's calf. Slater throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Slater swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Slater gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Penn sitting in guard, not really doing much. Penn scoring with punches to the head and body. Slater wants to stand but Penn is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slater is keeping the position for now. Slater is looking to stand up but Penn isn't so interested in that idea. Penn wants to pass the guard but Slater is keeping the position. Penn is looking to work some ground and pound but Slater has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Penn stands up from Slater's guard - Penn perhaps looking for a knockout. Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Slater just misses with a punch to the body.
Slater looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Penn fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Slater waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Penn. Jack Slater is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Good leg kick by Penn there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Slater misses with an uppercut. Penn throws a quick inside leg kick. Slater looks gassed! Penn scores with a push kick. Penn fails with a takedown attempt from distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Penn looks like he's thinking about clinching though. The fighters circling - Slater throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Slater takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Penn clinches up against the cage. Penn is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for TJ Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Penn is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Slater wants to break the clinch but can't.
Penn tightens his grip and picks Slater up, before dumping him to the ground. Slater manages to land in guard. Penn postures up in Slater's guard and throws a big left but Slater blocks it. Penn prevents Slater from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn landing with the ground and pound. Slater avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Slater preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Penn scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Penn showing good wrestling skills to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
TJ Penn dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Penn moves in looking to clinch but Slater pushes him off. Penn throws a sloppy head kick and Slater moves out of range easily. Slater throws a big shot that misses. Slater falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Penn counter with a right hand. Nice uppercut lands for Slater. That snapped Penn's head back.
Slater misses with an uppercut. Penn scores with a takedown into Slater's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Slater is breathing heavily. Penn throws and elbow that misses. Slater uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Penn's guard. Nice move by Slater!

Slater must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Penn is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn wants to get back to his feet but Slater is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Penn looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Slater passes into half guard.

Slater trying to control but Penn is having none of it. Penn tries to hold on but Slater pushes him away. Slater really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Penn is trying desperately to improve position. Slater blocks Penn's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Penn throwing hammer fists to the chest of Slater. What's that going to do exactly? Penn is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
TJ Penn dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Penn moves out of range of the strikes. Penn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slater paws at him with a jab and circles away. Penn moves out of range of the strikes. Penn ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Slater throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Slater avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Slater wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Penn has Slater pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Slater manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slater wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Penn moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Penn walks into a stiff left hand from Slater. Penn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Penn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slater wants to get back to his feet but Penn is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Penn is pushing down on Slater's leg trying to pass to half guard. Slater is fighting to maintain full guard but Penn has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn not landing any meaningful shots this time. Penn working Slater over with strikes. TJ Penn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Penn controlling the pace. Penn seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Slater for as long as he can get away with. Penn gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Jack Slater has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Penn moves into the clinch successfully.
