Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lino Whitley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Batishchev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batishchev has chosen Guano Apes - Open Your Eyes as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lino Whitley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Batishchev!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitley tries to clinch up

and Batishchev counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Whitley's guard now.
Batishchev throws a big elbow that misses.
Batishchev is looking to work some ground and pound but Whitley has wrist control.
Batishchev forces his way into half guard.
Batishchev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Batishchev wants to free his trapped foot but Whitley is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Batishchev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Batishchev seems to be working for a kimura but Whitley defends the submission attempt.
Batishchev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Batishchev is trying to control. Whitley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Batishchev throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Whitley looks like he's trying to stand up.

Batishchev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Whitley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Batishchev is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Well, if Batishchev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Whitley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Batishchev is working away from the top position though.
Batishchev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Whitley has one foot on Batishchev's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Whitley drives through with a takedown into Batishchev's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Batishchev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Batishchev changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Whitley looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Batishchev wants to control but Whitley is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Whitley is pushing Batishchev's head away, looking to escape. Batishchev manages to hold on to the position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Batishchev dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Whitley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Batishchev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Whitley is fending him off so far but Batishchev persists. Nope, Whitley circles away and we're back to standing.
Whitley throws a body shot but no joy.
Batishchev darts in looking for a takedown but Whitley gets double underhooks and turns Batishchev into the cage.

Batishchev is trying to trip Whitley. He has hold of a leg but Whitley is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Batishchev persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Batishchev forces his way into half guard.
Batishchev is looking to take a break and control but Whitley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Batishchev stalling away here and it's allowed Whitley to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Ivan Batishchev has got the better of the ground game so far.

Whitley looking for a guillotine here but Batishchev defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Batishchev trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Whitley manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Whitley postures up in Batishchev's guard and throws a big left but Batishchev blocks it.

Whitley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Batishchev, up you get!

Batishchev shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Whitley napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Batishchev is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Whitley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Batishchev tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Batishchev has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Batishchev tries for a kimura but Whitley is defending well.
Whitley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Whitley takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Batishchev is staying tight to Whitley's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Batishchev scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Whitley to see if he's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ivan Batishchev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Batishchev closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Batishchev lands in his opponent's guard.

Batishchev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Whitley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Batishchev has Whitley in his guard.

Whitley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Whitley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Batishchev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Whitley has managed to get both his arms back between Batishchev's legs - danger averted.
Batishchev takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Whitley is looking to stand up but Batishchev won't let him.

Whitley throws a big elbow that misses.
Whitley is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Batishchev tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Batishchev trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Batishchev throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Batishchev is pulling down on Whitley's head. It's preventing any offense from Whitley, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Whitley displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Batishchev.

Batishchev shoots in for a takedown but Whitley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Whitley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Batishchev swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Lino Whitley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Batishchev.

Batishchev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Whitley quickly recovers to half guard.

Ivan Batishchev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Batishchev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
