Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Trinidad Suarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Nitschke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trinidad Suarez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Nitschke! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nitschke with a lazy takedown attempt and Suarez counters with a shoot takedown. Nitschke fights it but they end up in guard. Suarez throws a big elbow that misses. Nitschke keeping moving, preventing Suarez from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nitschke is controlling Suarez's posture. Suarez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nitschke is keeping the position for now. Suarez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Suarez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Suarez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Suarez wants to control from the top but Nitschke keeps moving. Nitschke bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Suarez's guard. Nitschke throws a big elbow that misses. Nitschke lands a couple of elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nitschke throws a strike but Suarez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Suarez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Suarez postures up.
Nitschke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Suarez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Suarez won't allow Nitschke to sweep him here. Nitschke looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Suarez wants to pass the guard but Nitschke is keeping the position. Suarez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Suarez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suarez wants to pass the guard but Nitschke is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Suarez with a flurry of punches that miss. Suarez stands up over Nitschke, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Nitschke is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Nitschke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Nitschke is fighting to maintain full guard but Suarez has managed to sneak the leg through. Nitschke looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nitschke tries to get to full guard but Suarez has control of the leg. Suarez is keen to just control but Nitschke is a slippery customer. Still in half guard, Suarez seems content to control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Nitschke regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Suarez. Suarez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Nitschke looking for a guillotine here but Suarez defends easily.

Suarez not landing any meaningful shots this time. Suarez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Suarez prevents Nitschke from improving his position. Suarez is nestled in close to Nitschke, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Nitschke is trying to control but can't.
Nitschke on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Suarez wants to take a breather but Nitschke is having none of it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Suarez connects with a nice short shot to Nitschke's temple. Suarez missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Suarez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Suarez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Trinidad Suarez dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Nitschke shoots for a double leg takedown but Suarez sprawls well. He's pushed Nitschke's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nitschke shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Suarez but Suarez pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nitschke with a poor takedown and Suarez counters with a single leg into guard. Nitschke didn't expect that. Trinidad Suarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Nitschke. Suarez passes into half guard. Suarez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nitschke keeps working. Nitschke is positioning himself well to prevent Suarez advancing to mount. Suarez working the head and body with strikes. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Nitschke is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Suarez is staying active.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Damian Nitschke hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Suarez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nitschke to score an easy takedown into full guard. Nitschke looking to sit in guard and control but Suarez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Suarez distracts Nitschke with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Nitschke has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Suarez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Suarez lands a couple of elbows.

Nitschke swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nitschke not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Suarez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Nitschke is tightening it up a little... Suarez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Suarez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Suarez taps out! Nice BJJ there by Nitschke!
