Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Own Compton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Shephard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Shephard looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Own Compton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, John Shephard! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Compton swings away with a body shot that misses
and Shephard counters with a nice body shot. Shephard misses with a series of wild punches.
Shephard fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Compton looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Shephard stuns Compton with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Shephard scores with a body shot.
Shephard connects with a right hand. Compton shakes it off. Shephard moves into the clinch. Compton goes for a takedown attempt but Shephard pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Shephard ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Compton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shephard sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Nice sprawl there from Shephard as Compton shoots in. We've been hearing reports that Compton has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Own Compton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Compton showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shephard.
Compton fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Shephard throws a nice looking combination but Compton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Shephard lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shephard. Shephard throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Shephard throws a right and a left that both miss. Shephard misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shephard has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Compton is landing a low percentage of strikes. Shephard swinging wildly here.
Compton is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Shephard. Shephard looks winded! Shephard misses with a combination
and Compton counters with a single leg into guard. Shephard didn't expect that. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Compton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Compton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Compton won't allow Shephard to get back to his feet. Compton wants to pass the guard but Shephard is keeping the position. Compton is pushing down on Shephard's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shephard is fighting to maintain full guard but Compton has managed to sneak the leg through. Compton is looking to advance position but Shephard won't allow it. Compton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Compton seems to be looking for submissions.
Compton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shephard doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Compton.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shephard is looking to escape. Shephard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Compton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Compton is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Shephard is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
