Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yrjoe Velmu!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Sheng Chung Lin.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Velmu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Velmu wants it to stay on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Velmu enables Lin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Velmu manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Velmu tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Donk. Lin catches Velmu right on the button with a cross.
Lin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Velmu lands a leg kick that knocks Lin off balance momentarily.

Sheng Chung Lin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velmu does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Lin throws a head kick but Velmu moves out of range.
Lin throws a hook to the side of Velmu's head but Velmu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Velmu tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lin is able to avoid easily.

Lin lands a nice hook to Velmu's body. Velmu takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Yrjoe Velmu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Velmu avoids it really well and circles away.

Velmu works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Lin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Velmu has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Velmu and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Lin lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Velmu creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

I was talking to Lin's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
