Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mark Read! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dean Duggan! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Read moves out of range of the body kick. Duggan lands a nice looking kick to the body. Read takes a step back to recover. A bone on bone clash there as Read blocks the leg kick.
Read scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Duggan blocks a head kick by Read.
Duggan throws a leg kick and Read counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Duggan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Read fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Duggan checks it well. Duggan throws a leg kick and Read counters with a one-two to the body. Read jabs Duggan right on the nose. Duggan blinks but takes it well. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Read keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Duggan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Read paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dean Duggan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Read takes a jab right on the kisser.
Duggan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Duggan loads up on a big right hand but Read slips the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duggan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Duggan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Duggan avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Read throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Duggan's head.
It looks like Dean Duggan has been cut. A low kick from Read misses and Duggan counters by clinching up. Duggan lands a body punch in the clinch. Read prevents a body shot from Duggan. Duggan has a couple of punches blocked by Read.

A short right from Duggan on the inside. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Duggan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Duggan tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Read's elbow. A head punch blocked on the inside by Read. Read blocks an uppercut.
Read swings wildly with an uppercut but Duggan uses good head movement to avoid it. Duggan tries a body shot but Read blocks it.

Read blocks a body shot from Duggan. Read lands with a light punch inside. Duggan struggles to land a body shot inside as Read controls his hands.
Duggan misses with a hook from the clinch. Duggan working some nice short punches in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Read throws a head punch that misses. Duggan tries to work over Read's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Duggan misses with a punch to the body.
Read scores with a shot to the side of Duggan's head. Duggan working aggressively here.
Duggan misses with a short punch on the inside. Duggan swings wildly with an uppercut but Read uses good head movement to avoid it. Read breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Read on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Duggan misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Read.
Duggan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A head kick misses from Read.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Read smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! Duggan feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Read's calf. Read throws a leg kick but Duggan checks it. Duggan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Read checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Nice cross by Duggan.
Read is rocked! Duggan ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Oh Read is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Duggan with a body punch. A glancing blow. Duggan connects with a leg kick. Read looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Read is breathing heavily. Read loses concentration momentarily and Duggan pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Read crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Duggan finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
