Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paolo Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Atom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez stuffs the takedown attempt from Atom. Atom gets slowly back to his feet.
Mendez lands a jab to Atom's midsection.
Atom fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Adam Atom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Atom tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mendez swivels and escapes.
Paolo Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Atom.
Mendez rushes Atom and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mendez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mendez stuffs the takedown attempt from Atom. Atom gets slowly back to his feet.

Atom throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mendez's waist but Mendez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Atom off to one side.

Mendez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mendez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mendez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Atom is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Atom and Mendez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Mendez throws an elbow but Atom slips to the side and avoids it well.

Atom stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mendez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mendez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Atom feints and as Mendez raises his hands in defense, Atom changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mendez is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Atom has his hands clasped together but Mendez extends an breaks Atom's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Mendez.
