Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Modesto Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabian Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fabian Soto will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Modesto Carpenter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fabian Soto! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soto fails with a takedown attempt. Soto tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carpenter swivels and escapes. Soto fails to land the takedown. Modesto Carpenter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabian Soto. Soto with a poor takedown and Carpenter counters with a series of strikes. Soto will be more careful next time no doubt. Soto keeps the fight on the outside. Carpenter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Soto to score an easy takedown into full guard. Carpenter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Soto stops Carpenter from standing up. Carpenter has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Soto is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Soto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Soto moves out of range of the body kick from Carpenter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soto closes the distance and clinches. Carpenter manages to break the clinch.
Soto clinches up against the cage. Soto keeps control of Carpenter as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Soto tries to score a body lock takedown but Carpenter shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Carpenter works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Soto gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Carpenter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Soto trying to control the position from guard on top but Carpenter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Soto looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carpenter wants to stand up but Soto is controlling him. Carpenter keeping moving, preventing Soto from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Fabian Soto hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Carpenter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carpenter lands a body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Soto lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Carpenter backs up against the cage.
Soto has his takedown stuffed and Carpenter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Soto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Soto stuffs the takedown. Soto slaps away a takedown attempt from Carpenter, before circling back to the center of the mat. Carpenter looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Carpenter is working Soto over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carpenter throwing strikes from guard but Soto blocks nicely. Carpenter gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Soto is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Soto gets caught flat footed, as Carpenter shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Soto is working an open guard so Carpenter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Carpenter scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Carpenter fails with a takedown attempt. Soto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Modesto Carpenter dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Carpenter gets caught napping as Soto dives in and scores a takedown. Carpenter manages to retain guard. Carpenter keeping moving, preventing Soto from controlling successfully. Carpenter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Soto is one step ahead there. Carpenter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Soto trying to control but Carpenter is working from the bottom.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Fabian Soto wasn't active enough on the ground. Carpenter scores with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Soto gets in close and instigates a clinch. Soto lands on the inside with an uppercut. Soto tries to break free but Carpenter pushes him back against the cage. Soto has Carpenter pressed against the cage, preventing Carpenter from circling away and getting back to striking at range. A frustrated look appears on Carpenter's face as he tries to break the clinch. Soto goes for a takedown in the clinch but Carpenter prevents it.
Soto is breathing heavily. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Soto letting Carpenter take a breather here. Soto has Carpenter pressed against the cage, preventing Carpenter from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carpenter wants to get back to striking at distance but Soto won't allow it.
Soto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carpenter walks away with a smile on his face. Soto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Modesto Carpenter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabian Soto. Carpenter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Carpenter lands with a right hand. Soto shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Carpenter is trying to defend but Soto finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Carpenter regains full guard. Nicely done. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Soto being controlled here momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carpenter pushes Soto off and gets back to his feet.
Soto throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Carpenter has his takedown stuffed and Soto counters with a stiff right hand. Modesto Carpenter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Soto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carpenter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Soto fails with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carpenter shoots in for a takedown but Soto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Soto moves into range and clinches up with Carpenter. Carpenter creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Soto's defenses. Soto tries to pull guard but Carpenter won't allow it.
Carpenter is trying to break free. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Soto stalling.
Soto is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Carpenter is defending well. Carpenter taking a breather. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fabian Soto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Soto bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Carpenter is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Soto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carpenter is just riding it out for now. Soto eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are battling for position here. Carpenter manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Carpenter pushes Soto off and gets back to his feet.

Soto has Carpenter pressed against the cage, preventing Carpenter from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Carpenter prevents a takedown attempt there.

Carpenter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Soto throws a series of punches but Carpenter avoids them all with ease.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Modesto Carpenter. I think Carpenter has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
