Franlkin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by ACDC- For Those About To Rock . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Jay Franlkin!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bearer moves into the clinch successfully.

Franlkin is trying to force a seperation but Bearer has the dominant position.
Franlkin tries to circle away but Bearer has him pinned against the cage.
Franlkin wants to break free but Bearer has control.

Franlkin prevents the takedown attempt.
Bearer throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Franlkin blocks it with crossed arms.
Franlkin is trying to break free.
Franlkin is trying to break the clinch but Bearer is controlling him.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Franlkin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Bearer counters with a nice leg kick.

Bearer shoots in looking for a takedown. Franlkin tries to sprawl out of it but Bearer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Franlkin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Bearer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bearer's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Bearer duly obliges.

Franlkin has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

I was talking to Bearer's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Franlkin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Bearer looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bearer shoots in for a takedown but Franlkin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bearer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Franlkin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Franlkin tries to escape but Bearer is in control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Franlkin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Franlkin lands a big right hand that sends Bearer crashing to the mat! Franlkin stays standing though and waves Bearer back to his feet!
Bearer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Bearer tries to move into range but Franlkin moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
