Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bj Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Richie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richie has chosen I Am as his entrance music. James Richie will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bj Edgar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James Richie! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Edgar wants to clinch up but Richie keeps it at a distance. Edgar dives in for a single leg takedown but Richie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Edgar gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Richie.
Richie successfully pulls guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Richie is adopting a defensive guard. Edgar stays in close to Richie's body and controls the position. Edgar trying to control the position from guard on top but Richie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Richie is pulling down on Edgar's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Bj Edgar just wasn't active enough. Edgar gets caught napping as Richie dives in and scores a takedown. Edgar manages to retain guard. Edgar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Richie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Richie advances to half guard. Richie is looking to take a break and control but Edgar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Edgar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Richie is working away from the top position though. Still in half guard, Richie seems content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Edgar keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Edgar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Edgar tries to get out of the position. Richie is figuring out what he wants to do next. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Richie does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Richie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Edgar goes for a double leg but Richie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Richie continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bj Edgar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Richie manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Edgar content to stall in guard here. Richie pulls Edgar in close to his closed guard and prevents Edgar from doing any damage or advancing position.

Richie might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Edgar haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
OK we're going to have a standup here. James Richie hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Richie tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Edgar moves into the clinch. Richie pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Edgar showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Richie.
Edgar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richie gets caught napping as Edgar dives in and scores a takedown. Richie manages to retain guard. Richie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Edgar manages to get himself to full guard.
Edgar looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Richie passes into half guard. Edgar blocking the ground and pound attempt from Richie. Edgar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Richie is working away from the top position though. Richie is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Richie is trying for a kimura here. Edgar looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Richie wins by kimura!
