Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marc Lewis Dillinger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Avery McCurnin! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCurnin listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
It looks like Marc Lewis Dillinger has been cut. McCurnin tries to clinch but Dillinger moves out of range. Dillinger pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McCurnin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Dillinger is rocked! Dillinger drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. McCurnin tries to improve position but can't. Dillinger trying to control the action but McCurnin is working from the bottom. Dillinger tries for a kimura but McCurnin is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McCurnin can't do much from the bottom here. Dillinger lands an elbow. Dillinger working the ground and pound from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dillinger thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Dillinger is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McCurnin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. McCurnin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dillinger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dillinger connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused McCurnin some visible discomfort.
Dillinger happy to just control the position for now. Dillinger passes to full mount! That's big trouble for McCurnin! McCurnin tries to hold on but Dillinger postures up. McCurnin is desperately trying to improve his position but Dillinger has a good base and remains in mount. McCurnin tries to hold on but Dillinger pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dillinger working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dillinger lands a big shot there that rocks McCurnin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
McCurnin tries to control Dillinger's body but Dillinger pushes him off. McCurnin squirms to his side and now Dillinger has his back! Dillinger is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and McCurnin taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Dillinger.
