Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petter Anier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kyle Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 24 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petter Anier!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Ward with that takedown attempt.

Ward shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Anier is controlling Ward's trapped leg to prevent Ward from advancing to side control.
Anier is pressing down on Ward's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ward throws a strike but Anier rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Anier controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Petter Anier has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Ward tries for a takedown but Anier circles away easily
and Anier counters with a solid body kick.
Ward definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ward with a poor takedown
and Anier counters with a one-two to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Anier gets a clinch.
Anier managing to block the knees to the body from Ward.

Anier breaks the clinch.

Anier scores with a takedown into Ward's guard.
Anier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ward swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ward is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ward on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ward tries to get out of the position.
Anier is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ward keeping full guard, as Anier tries to pass.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Petter Anier.
Anier tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ward paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Anier rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ward moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Anier misses with a jab, cross combination.

Anier drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Anier advances to full mount.

Anier get's back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ward gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Anier keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Anier misses with an attempted mid kick.
Ward tries for a takedown but Anier sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ward missing with a left hand there. Anier was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Anier has a takedown stuffed.
Anier tries to close the distance and clinch but Ward swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Petter Anier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anier tries to clinch up but Ward circles away and keeps his distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Anier instigates a clinch.

Anier breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Anier rushes Ward and presses him up against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Anier blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Anier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ward takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Ward changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Anier looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Petter Anier dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Anier stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Anier wants it to stay on the feet.
Ward shoots in but no luck this time.

Anier forces Ward back against the cage and clinches.

Anier breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Anier closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ward's guard.

Anier gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Ward tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Anier swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anier shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ward but Ward pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Anier stuffs the takedown attempt from Ward. Ward gets slowly back to his feet.
Ward shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Anier tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ward sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Anier somewhat.

Anier looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Anier in particular looking to stall.

Anier is working for a kimura but Ward is defending it quite comfortably.

Ward is defending against the submission attempts here by Anier.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Anier is taking a breather. Ward says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Anier decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ward shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Anier pinned against the cage. Anier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Anier tries for a takedown but Ward sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Anier throws the kick towards the body but Ward avoids it.

Anier shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Ward looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ward can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Anier controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Petter Anier.
Good shot there by Anier.

Anier gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Anier is looking for a takedown.

Anier has Ward pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Anier pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ward tumbling to the mat - Anier dives into Ward's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ward wants to stand but Anier is controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ward wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Anier manages to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Petter Anier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Anier is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Ward wants to improve his position but instead Anier has moved into half guard.
Anier is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Anier stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Ward shoots in and drives through. Anier sprawls well.
Anier looks to land a body kick but Ward moved away.
Ward fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anier tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ward swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Anier gets a double leg takedown into Ward's guard.
Anier throws a big elbow that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ward being controlled here, momentarily.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Petter Anier.
Ward shoots in but no luck this time.
Anier throws a head kick but Ward moves out of range.

Anier gets a clinch.
Anier makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Anier gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ward.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Anier goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ward prevents it.
Anier connects with a knee to the head.

Anier successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ward is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Anier has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Ward is looking to defend but Anier has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Ward! Anier pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Ward taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Petter Anier!
After winning the bout, Petter Anier thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
