The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oneill's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Oneill duly obliges.
Portman clinches with his opponent.
Oneill really is a fat lump.
Portman gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Oneill flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Portman wants to take a breather but Oneill is having none of it.
Portman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oneill throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Oneill is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Portman pulls his head out easily.
Oneill manages to get to full guard.
