The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Christian fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sakuraba, pushing him back against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Christian.
Christian tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Sakuraba has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Christian is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Christian lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Christian.
A short body shot lands from Christian as the two fighters clinch.
Christian scores with a shot to the side of Sakuraba's head.
Sakuraba goes for a takedown attempt but Christian pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Christian lands a left and a right that sends Sakuraba crashing to the canvas! Christian dives into mount looking to finish!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Sakuraba tries to hold on but Christian postures up.

Christian has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Sakuraba has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Christian won't let Sakuraba get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Sakuraba seems to have recovered his senses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sakuraba is trying desperately to improve position.
Christian knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakuraba on the ground.

Sakuraba has a hand on Christian's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Christian takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Christian wants to stand but Sakuraba is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Sakuraba looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Christian is defending well. Sakuraba quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Christian has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Sakuraba celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
