Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Daley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mick Daley!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a series of punches but Daley avoids them all with ease.

Smith scores with a takedown into Daley's guard.
Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Daley keeping full guard, as Smith tries to pass.
Smith content to stall in guard here.
Daley is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
Daley is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Smith controls from within his opponent's guard.

Daley wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.
Daley is trying to keep Smith in close.

Smith stands up and waves to Daley to follow him.

Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Smith lands with a punch from half guard.
Smith content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Daley with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Daley is trying to get back to full guard.

Smith is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Daley wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Smith stops Daley from getting back to his feet.
Smith controlling the pace.
Smith is thwarting Daley's attempts to control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Daley pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Daley is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Smith gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Daley wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Daley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Daley is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown. Daley fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith wants to pass the guard but Daley is keeping the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Daley is retaining full guard.

Smith wants to control from the top but Daley keeps moving.

Daley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Daley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith slips nicely into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smith content to control rather than advance.
Daley wants to control but Smith is keeping busy.

Smith is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Daley is trying to get back to full guard.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Daley is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Smith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Daley's guard.
Daniel Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mick Daley.

Daley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Daley tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith misses with a few strikes there.
Daley doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Daley misses with a wild combination.
Daley shoots and misses

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control.

Smith stands up.
Daley fails with the takedown

and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Daley!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Daley is trying to escape the mount.
Smith tries to control but Daley wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Smith wants to control the pace but Daley is squirming around nicely.
Daley tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Smith looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Smith avoids the attempt from Daley to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Smith throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Daley is desperately trying to improve his position but Smith has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daley tries to hold on but Smith postures up.
Smith looking to control and managing it successfully.
Daley flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daley is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Smith looking to control but Daley is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Smith controlling the pace for now.
Daley working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith is landing with some decent strikes but Daley is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Smith looking to control and managing it successfully.
Daley is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Daley really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Daley tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Daniel Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
