Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Lamotta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lamotta's entrance music is yes. A fine choice. Jim Beckett has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
46 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake Lamotta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Beckett! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Beckett throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Jim Beckett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lamotta blocks a head kick by Beckett.
Lamotta avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Beckett stuffs the takedown. Beckett uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lamotta. Lamotta misses with a leg kick and Beckett decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lamotta's guard. Lamotta looking for a sweep. Not yet Lamotta, not yet. Beckett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Beckett trying to control the position from guard on top but Lamotta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lamotta is trying to maintain the position but Beckett is very close to passing his half guard. Lamotta tries to get to full guard but Beckett has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Beckett connects with a nice short shot to Lamotta's temple. Lamotta is looking to improve his position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Beckett working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beckett sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lamotta defending well though. Lamotta is looking to improve his position.
Lamotta is refusing to be controlled, as Beckett sits in half guard. Beckett might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lamotta haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Beckett throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Lamotta has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beckett is working away from the top position though. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Beckett in particular looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lamotta connects with a good right hand that stumbles Beckett. Beckett circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Lamotta throws a solid leg kick but Beckett takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Lamotta. Lamotta clinches up against the cage. Lamotta misses with a body punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lamotta is trying to drag Beckett to the mat but Beckett just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Lamotta prevents a body shot from Beckett. Lamotta tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Beckett's elbow. Lamotta takes a shot to the head. Lamotta struggles to land a body shot inside as Beckett controls his hands.

Lamotta missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Beckett wants to improve his position but Lamotta is controlling well.

Lamotta takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lamotta scores with a couple of good hammerfists. A close round but Jim Beckett will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Beckett decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lamotta's guard. Beckett got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lamotta has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Beckett has managed to get both his arms back between Lamotta's legs - danger averted. Beckett throwing strikes from guard but Lamotta blocks nicely. Lamotta is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lamotta keeping moving, preventing Beckett from controlling successfully. Nice move.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Beckett pulls Lamotta in close to his closed guard and prevents Lamotta from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Beckett checks a low kick from Lamotta. Beckett tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Beckett staying out of range there. Beckett scoring well with a low kick there.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lamotta lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Beckett has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Beckett and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Lamotta slips a straight right by Beckett. Lamotta throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Beckett fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Lamotta has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Beckett just misses with a punch to the body.

Lamotta looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Beckett is fending him off so far but Lamotta persists. Nope, Beckett circles away and we're back to standing. Beckett looks to throw the jab but Lamotta is out of range. Lamotta scores with a shot to the body.
Beckett walks into a stiff left hand from Lamotta. Beckett closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lamotta quickly recovers to half guard. Beckett not landing any meaningful shots this time. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Beckett looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Beckett slips a nice elbow through Lamotta's hands, connecting with Lamotta's forehead.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Lamotta. I think Lamotta has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
