Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Gilliam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kacper Majk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gerard Gilliam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kacper Majk!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Majk fails with a takedown attempt.
Gilliam shoots in looking for a takedown but Majk manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gilliam's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Majk gets a takedown into half guard.
Majk looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gilliam is not content to let Majk control the position.
Gilliam could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Majk performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kacper Majk hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Majk fails with a takedown attempt.

Majk scores with a takedown into Gilliam's guard.
Majk sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Majk missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Majk landing some decent shots from guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kacper Majk wasn't active enough on the ground.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gilliam.

Gilliam decides to stand back up.
Gilliam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Majk's waist but Majk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gilliam off to one side.
Gilliam displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Majk.
Gerard Gilliam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kacper Majk.

Majk forces Gilliam back against the cage and clinches.

Majk has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gilliam after a bit of a struggle.
Gilliam struggles to land a body shot inside as Majk controls his hands.
Majk is looking for a takedown.

Gilliam tightens his grip and picks Majk up, before dumping him to the ground. Majk manages to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gilliam lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Majk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Majk has a closed guard, preventing Gilliam from standing up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gilliam avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kacper Majk dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gilliam gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gilliam.

Majk shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Majk keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Majk wants to take a breather but Gilliam is having none of it.
Kacper Majk has got the better of the ground game so far.
Majk throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Gilliam to regain full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kacper Majk was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Majk checks a low kick from Gilliam.

Gilliam clinches up with Majk and pushes him back against the cage.
Majk wants to take the fight to the mat but Gilliam manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Gilliam drops down looking for an ankle pick but Majk pulls his leg out and moves away.

Majk shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gilliam napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Majk decides to stand back up. Majk steps back and let's Gilliam get back to his feet.
Majk avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Majk gets tackled into the cage by Gilliam. Gilliam maintains the clinch.
Majk wants a takedown.
Majk prevents the takedown attempt.

Majk turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Majk manages to end up in side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gilliam is not content to let Majk control the position.
Majk is breathing heavily.
Gilliam is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Majk controlling from side mount.
Gilliam might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Majk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gilliam keeps working.
Gilliam manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Majk tries to roll over but Gilliam keeps him under control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kacper Majk was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Gilliam tries to clinch up but Majk circles away and keeps his distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gilliam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Majk's waist but Majk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gilliam off to one side.
Majk shoots in for a takedown but Gilliam shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Majk shoots for a double leg takedown but Gilliam sprawls well. He's pushed Majk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gilliam tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Majk defends well and Gilliam ends up having to push Majk into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Majk tries to score a body lock takedown but Gilliam shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Gilliam has Majk pushed against the cage.

Majk has hold of one of Gilliam's legs. Gilliam is fighting the takedown attempt but Majk gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gilliam is controlling Majk's posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kacper Majk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Gilliam's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Gilliam shoots for a takedown but Majk saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gilliam tries to score a power double leg takedown but Majk sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gilliam somewhat.
Majk fails with the takedown
and Gilliam counters with a slapping leg kick.
Gilliam throws a body punch but Majk moves out of range.
Gilliam slaps away a takedown attempt from Majk, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gilliam is looking to clinch but Majk is avoiding it.
Gilliam leaves Majk with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gerard Gilliam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kacper Majk.

Gilliam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Majk circles away.

Gilliam throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Majk was covering up waiting for the punch and Gilliam finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gilliam decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Majk tries for a takedown but Gilliam circles away easily
and Gilliam counters with a one-two to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gilliam closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Majk's guard.

Gilliam stands up from Majk's guard - Gilliam perhaps looking for a knockout.
Gilliam tries to clinch up but Majk circles away and keeps his distance.
Majk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Gilliam counters with a shoot takedown. Majk fights it but they end up in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gilliam missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Majk wriggles free and stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Majk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Majk dives in and scores a takedown into Gilliam's guard.
Majk is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Majk wants to control from the top but Gilliam keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kacper Majk wasn't active enough on the ground.

Gilliam dives in and scores a takedown into Majk's guard.
Gilliam trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gilliam postures up and lands a big shot to Majk's brow.
Majk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gilliam content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Gerard Gilliam has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kacper Majk is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
