Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Go Mandzusk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Go Mandzusk!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandzusk misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Junior shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mandzusk manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Junior controlling from the top position.

Junior thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mandzusk's head.
Mandzusk looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mandzusk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Junior. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Junior content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mario Junior.

Junior changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mandzusk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Junior fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mandzusk manages to avoid it.

Mandzusk tries to sprawl but Junior drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Junior stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Mandzusk to get to his feet.
Junior could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Mandzusk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mario Junior just wasn't active enough.

Junior decides to pull guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Junior has Mandzusk pulled in close to control his posture.
Junior's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mandzusk tries to keep at a distance but Junior has taken the fight into the clinch.

Junior gets control of Mandzusk's arms and successfully pulls guard. Junior will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Junior closes the distance and clinches.
Junior keeps control of Mandzusk as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Junior jumps into guard, dragging Mandzusk to the mat.
Junior is pulling down on Mandzusk's head. It's preventing any offense from Mandzusk, at least for the moment.
Junior wants to sweep here but Mandzusk controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mandzusk tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mandzusk misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Junior shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Junior in particular looking to stall.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Junior moves into full mount! Mandzusk won't be happy about that!

Junior takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

What can Mandzusk do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Mandzusk is trying to defend against the choke here but Junior has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Junior Tightens the hold and Mandzusk taps out furiously! Junior displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
