Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Martin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bruce Dandas! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin tries for a takedown but Dandas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Dandas has managed to clinch.
Martin wants a takedown.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Dandas. Martin fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Dandas jumps guard and drags Martin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Martin postures up in Dandas's guard and throws a big left but Dandas blocks it. Dandas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Martin wants to control from the top but Dandas keeps moving. Dandas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Martin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Martin won't allow Dandas to get back to his feet. Dandas has his foot on Martin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Martin works his way back into a safe position though. Martin is fighting to break Dandas's control of his arms but Dandas is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Dandas looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Martin looking to pass the guard. Dandas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Dandas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Martin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Dandas trying to keep a closed guard but Martin is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dandas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Martin has Dandas in his guard. Dandas is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Dandas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Dandas is sitting in close to Martin's body. Martin has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Dandas is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Dandas is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Martin.
