PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Schittd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Cliffton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schittd comes into the arena with I'm Evil... blaring out of the sound system. Cliffton has chosen Hello-Lionel Ritchie as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Schittd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Cliffton!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schittd moves forwards but Cliffton connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Schittd closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cliffton circles away.
Cliffton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cliffton misses with a right hand
and Schittd counters with a stiff right hand.
Cliffton throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cliffton misses with a head kick.
Schittd definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Cliffton keeps the fight on the outside.

and Schittd holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Schittd is trying to drag Cliffton to the mat but Cliffton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Cliffton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cliffton tries a head kick but it misses.
Schittd dives in for a single leg takedown but Cliffton sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Schittd. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Schittd pushes Cliffton back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Schittd is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cliffton to keep the fight standing.
Schittd is looking to take this one to the mat.
Schittd goes for a takedown attempt but Cliffton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Nice sprawl there from Cliffton as Schittd shoots in.
Cliffton throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

It looks like Jack Schittd has been cut.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cliffton comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Cliffton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Schittd.

Cliffton cracks Schittd with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Schittd looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Cliffton finish him?

Schittd uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cliffton.
Cliffton might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Schittd shoots for a takedown but Cliffton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Schittd bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Cliffton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cliffton has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Cliffton jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Schittd dives in and grabs Cliffton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cliffton pushes down on Schittd's head and hops out.

Cliffton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Schittd.
Cliffton tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Cliffton lands a head shot.
Schittd will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cliffton throws a head kick but Schittd moves out of range.
Scott Cliffton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cliffton throws a head kick that misses.
Cliffton misses the jab.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Schittd. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Cliffton throws a looping overhand right but Schittd ducks down to avoid it.
Cliffton connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Schittd walks into a stiff left hand from Cliffton.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Cliffton throws a head kick but Schittd moves out of range.
Scott Cliffton seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Cliffton cracks Schittd with a good jab.
Schittd darts in looking for a takedown but Cliffton gets double underhooks and turns Schittd into the cage.

Schittd gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cliffton wants to get back to his feet.
Schittd misses with a head shot. Cliffton uses the momentum to regain guard.
Schittd throws an elbow that misses. Cliffton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schittd's guard. Nice move by Cliffton!
Schittd looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Cliffton wants to stand but Schittd has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Schittd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Schittd is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cliffton defends well.

Schittd is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cliffton is aware though and is defending well.

Cliffton gets to his feet. Schittd looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Scott Cliffton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cliffton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Schittd blocks a head kick by Cliffton.
Schittd walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Cliffton lands a big head kick that sends Schittd tumbling to the mat! Cliffton takes a step backwards and waves Schittd back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cliffton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Schittd tries to move into range but Cliffton moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Cliffton throws a pinpoint strike between Schittd's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Schittd crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Cliffton scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Scott Cliffton!
Our winner, Scott Cliffton, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
The defeated Jack Schittd had this to say: 'How cool was that. We both came to fight and the best man won this one... Well done Cliffton, you're a tough fucker, we spoke some shit before the fight but it's all hype guys. I'll back into the gym, and be looking for a rematch at some point, but in the mean time, Wilma Flintstone is waiting ba'.
