The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kessler lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Valencia fails with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kessler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Valencia shoots in but Kessler avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Kessler counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Valencia tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kessler swivels and escapes.

and Valencia takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Kessler lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Valencia moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jonas Valencia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valencia takes one to the chin there.
Valencia tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kessler paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kessler connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Valencia fails with a takedown attempt.
Kessler misses with a few strikes there.
Kessler lands with an overhand left.
Kessler throws a series of punches but Valencia avoids them all with ease.

The fight stays on the outside here - Valencia looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kessler throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Valencia stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kessler lands a nice shot that snaps Valencia's head back.
Valencia slips a jab and a cross from Kessler.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Valencia misses with a takedown attempt
and Kessler cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kessler scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Kessler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kessler swats away the attempt to clinch by Valencia.
Valencia darts in trying to clinch
and Kessler counters with a nice uppercut.
Jonas Valencia's cut is getting worse.

and Kessler connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kessler lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Valencia is rocked!
Valencia finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Kessler's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Valencia falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johann Kessler!
