Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bo Maddox!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maddox misses with a takedown

and Robertson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Maddox escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Maddox misses with a body kick.
Robertson slaps away a takedown attempt from Maddox, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Maddox shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Robertson but Robertson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Robert Robertson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bo Maddox.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Robertson is pulling down on Maddox's head to control his posture.

and Robertson counters with a single leg into guard. Maddox didn't expect that.

Robertson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Robertson advances to full mount.

Robertson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Maddox to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Maddox shrugs it off.
Robertson lands a big shot there that rocks Maddox but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maddox slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Robertson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Robertson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Robertson seems to be looking for submissions.
Maddox tries to kick Robertson off but Robertson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Robert Robertson just wasn't active enough.

Robertson clinches.

Robertson drags the fight down to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Robertson is on top in guard.
Robertson wants to pass the guard but Maddox is keeping the position.
Robertson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maddox swings for the body but Robertson moves out of range.
Robertson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Maddox manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Robertson scores with a hook to the body. Maddox takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Maddox closes the distance and clinches up with Robertson, looking for a takedown. Maddox pushes Robertson against the cage but Robertson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Robertson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Robertson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Maddox wants a takedown.

Robertson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Robertson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Robert Robertson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bo Maddox.
Robertson lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Robertson moves into range and clinches up with Maddox.

Maddox tightens his grip and picks Robertson up, before dumping him to the ground. Robertson manages to land in guard.

Robertson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Maddox circles away from the clinch attempt.

Robertson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maddox's guard.
Maddox is breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Robertson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Robertson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Robert Robertson wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Maddox has managed to clinch.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Maddox just misses with a elbow thrown towards Robertson's brow.

Robertson successfully pulls guard.

Robertson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Maddox shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Robertson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Robertson.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Robertson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Robertson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maddox can do to turn this around?

Robertson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Robertson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Robert Robertson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Robertson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Robertson is trying to get an arm triangle but Maddox is defending well.

Robertson has hold of Maddox's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Maddox seems comfortable defending it but Robertson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Maddox is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Maddox is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Robertson couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Robert Robertson!
In his post fight interview, Robert Robertson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
