PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Florencio Nolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warren Wylon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Florencio Nolan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Warren Wylon!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nolan looks to clinch

and Wylon counters by moving into the clinch.
Nolan wants a takedown.
Wylon holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Wylon as Nolan tries to tie him up.
Nolan tries to score a body lock takedown but Wylon shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Nolan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wylon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Florencio Nolan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nolan is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Wylon is keeping busy.

Nolan is fighting off a takedown attempt but Wylon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nolan to the mat. Nolan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Wylon decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Wylon counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wylon has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Wylon sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Wylon has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nolan's face.
Wylon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wylon stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Wylon has closed the distance and engaged Nolan in a clinch.

Wylon wants the takedown. Nolan is fighting it off but Wylon persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Nolan's guard against the cage.
Wylon pushes down on Nolan's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wylon decides to stand up.
Wylon cracks Nolan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Wylon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Wylon postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Nolan to stand up.
Wylon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wylon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nolan moves away.
Wylon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nolan.
Nolan misses with a takedown

and Wylon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nolan won't be happy with that.
Nolan is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wylon is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Wylon tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
A lull in the action here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wylon stands up.
Wylon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Wylon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nolan sprawls well. Nolan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wylon gets slowly back to his feet.

Nolan moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Warren Wylon dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nolan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wylon but Wylon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nolan closes the distance and clinches.
Nolan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wylon walks away with a smile on his face. Nolan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Florencio Nolan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wylon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nolan avoids it really well and circles away.
Nolan stuffs the takedown attempt from Wylon. Wylon gets slowly back to his feet.
Wylon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nolan's waist but Nolan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wylon off to one side.
Florencio Nolan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Warren Wylon.
Wylon connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Wylon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wylon showed some decent athleticism there.
Nolan tries to kick Wylon off but Wylon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wylon stalling away here and it's allowed Nolan to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wylon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Nolan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Warren Wylon wasn't active enough on the ground.
Wylon explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Wylon throws a body punch but Nolan moves out of range.
Wylon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wylon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nolan slaps away a takedown attempt from Wylon, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Wylon is breathing heavily.
Wylon misses with a kick to the body

and Nolan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nolan trying to control the position from guard on top but Wylon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wylon looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nolan wants to control from the top but Wylon keeps moving.
Nolan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Wylon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nolan is defending against the submission attempts here by Wylon.
Wylon stops Nolan from getting back to his feet.

Wylon is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wylon performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wylon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Warren Wylon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Wylon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nolan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nolan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wylon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wylon stops Nolan from standing up.

Wylon stands up and waves to Nolan to follow him.
A nice leg kick lands there from Wylon.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nolan misses with a wild combination.
Wylon shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Nolan gets caught napping as Wylon dives in and scores a takedown. Nolan manages to retain guard.
Wylon slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Nolan is looking to stand up but Wylon isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wylon gets to his feet - Nolan follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wylon is defended easily by Nolan.

Wylon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nolan is trying to defend but Wylon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Wylon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nolan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nolan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Wylon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Wylon is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Nolan!

Wylon has hold of Nolan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nolan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Florencio Nolan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Warren Wylon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wylon controlling the pace for now.

Warren Wylon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wylon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
