PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damon Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damon Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson shoots in but no luck this time.
Jackson looks to score with a jab to the body but Tyson is just out of range.
Tyson leaves Jackson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tyson darts in looking for a takedown but Jackson gets double underhooks and turns Tyson into the cage.

Tyson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Tyson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Tyson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tyson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Tyson moves in looking to clinch but Jackson pushes him off.
Tyson dives in for a single leg takedown but Jackson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Tyson shoots in but no luck this time.
Jackson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jackson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Tyson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tyson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Tyson wants to stand up but Jackson is controlling the position.
Jackson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tyson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tyson's back!

Tyson wants to control his opponent's hands but Jackson gets his hands free.
Jackson throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Jackson has eaten all the pies!
Tyson is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Jackson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Tyson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson looking to break Tyson's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Tyson remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jackson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Tyson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyson is pushing down on Jackson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Tyson has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tyson is stalling here. Jackson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Tyson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jackson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Damon Jackson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The strikes coming from Tyson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Tyson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Tyson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

John Tyson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jackson wants to control but Tyson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Well, if Tyson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Tyson is controlling the pace.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Tyson is trying to control. Jackson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's time! Tyson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jackson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tyson pinned against the cage. Tyson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Tyson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Tyson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
