PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zura Lomtadze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Stoicovi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zura Lomtadze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vitor Stoicovi!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stoicovi drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Stoicovi stands up.
Lomtadze lands with a shot to the body.
Lomtadze shoots in but Stoicovi avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stoicovi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Stoicovi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Stoicovi stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lomtadze to get to his feet.
Lomtadze shoots and misses

and Stoicovi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lomtadze preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stoicovi passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Lomtadze tries to improve position but can't.
Lomtadze takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Stoicovi controlling the position.

Stoicovi decides to take the fight back to the feet.
No joy there for Lomtadze, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lomtadze dives in for a single leg takedown but Stoicovi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zura Lomtadze. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lomtadze is breathing heavily.
Stoicovi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lomtadze smiles and moves away.

Stoicovi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stoicovi is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Lomtadze is trying to maintain the position but Stoicovi is very close to passing his half guard.
Stoicovi trying to control the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stoicovi scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Stoicovi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Lomtadze knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stoicovi on the ground.

Let's hope that Stoicovi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stoicovi lands a nice shot to the head.
Stoicovi lands with some strikes.
Stoicovi looking to control and managing it successfully.
Stoicovi's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitor Stoicovi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Stoicovi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Stoicovi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lomtadze with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Stoicovi is pressing down on Lomtadze's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lomtadze is holding on for now.
Stoicovi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Stoicovi decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Stoicovi throws a nice looking combination but Lomtadze bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Stoicovi is looking to clinch.
Stoicovi shoots for a double leg takedown but Lomtadze sprawls well. He's pushed Stoicovi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Stoicovi throws a sloppy head kick
and Lomtadze counters with a one-two to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lomtadze is looking to clinch but Stoicovi is avoiding it.
Stoicovi fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lomtadze misses with a takedown attempt

and Stoicovi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lomtadze won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stoicovi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Stoicovi is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Lomtadze is trying to escape and Stoicovi transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Lomtadze is forced to tap! Nice work there by Stoicovi! Very nice indeed!
