PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Isarno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Isarno was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Isarno gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Isarno throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Junior trying to control but Isarno is working from the bottom.
Isarno wants to stand but Junior is controlling the position.
Junior not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mario Junior wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Horrible takedown attempt by Junior or perhaps it was just good defense by Isarno, which made it look bad.
Isarno is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Junior shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Isarno sprawls well. Isarno wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Junior gets slowly back to his feet.
Isarno wants to clinch up but Junior keeps it at a distance.

Isarno dives in for a single leg takedown but Junior sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Junior is looking to control Isarno's arms but Isarno gets an underhook and turns him. Now Junior has his back to the cage.
Junior tries to throw a body punch but Isarno avoids it by throwing Junior back against the cage.
Isarno jumps guard but Junior turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Junior tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Isarno smiles and moves away.

Junior shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Isarno is trying to defend but Junior finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Junior gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Junior shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Junior takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Isarno fails in his attempt to clinch.
Isarno checks a low kick from Junior.

Isarno has closed the distance and engaged Junior in a clinch.
Isarno is trying to pull guard but Junior has him pressed against the cage.
Junior tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Isarno is struggling to control the position.
Junior really is a fat lump.
Isarno lands a damaging elbow.

Isarno's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Junior will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Isarno shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Junior as he jumps to the side.
Junior is looking to clinch but Isarno is avoiding it.

Junior closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Isarno to the mat! Isarno manages to get full guard.
Junior stands and throws Isarno's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Junior stands up.

Isarno feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Isarno tries to free his leg and advance position but Junior is retaining full guard.

Isarno throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Isarno must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Junior is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Junior perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Isarno wants to get back to full guard.

Junior is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Isarno is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Mario Junior will probably get the nod.

Junior slips a nice elbow through Isarno's hands, connecting with Isarno's forehead.

Isarno is trying to maintain the position but Junior is very close to passing his half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Junior is putting a hurting on Isarno here, landing some big shots from side control.

Junior has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Isarno is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Junior yanks on the arm and Isarno is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Junior.
