PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ron Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dogg comes into the arena with Kickstart My Heart blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ron Dogg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Taylor!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dogg misses with a few strikes there.
Taylor throws a half hearted mid kick.
Dogg slaps away a takedown attempt from Taylor, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Dogg fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Taylor to the ground. Dogg is now in Taylor's guard.
Taylor seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Dogg thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Taylor looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dogg passes into half guard.
Dogg sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Taylor defending well though.
Taylor on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Dogg seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Taylor does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dogg lands a nice short elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dogg is looking for a kimura but Taylor is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dogg to get the leverage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dogg is trying to control. Taylor wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Dogg decides to return to a standing position.

Dogg gets a double leg takedown into Taylor's guard.
Dogg wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

Dogg drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Dogg seems to have locked his on tight now - Taylor screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Dogg, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Ron Dogg!
During a confident post fight interview, Ron Dogg thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
