Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Presley!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Karl Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Presley with a nice cross.
Anderson wants to clinch up but Presley keeps it at a distance.

Anderson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Presley to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Presley trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anderson controls Presley momentarily but Presley frees himself.
Presley has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Anderson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Presley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Presley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Anderson has his foot on Presley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Presley works his way back into a safe position though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Presley postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Anderson told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Presley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Presley wants to pass the guard but Anderson is keeping the position.
Presley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Anderson keeping moving, preventing Presley from controlling successfully.
Presley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Presley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Anderson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Presley has managed to get both his arms back between Anderson's legs - danger averted.

Anderson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Presley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Presley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Anderson on the ground.

Presley is working Anderson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Anderson pushes a forearm under Presley's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Presley is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Karl Anderson!

Our winner, Karl Anderson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
