Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roberto Gudas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Trap! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gudas plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! A thudding body kick lands there by Gudas!
A head kick misses from Gudas. We've been told by Gudas's head coaches at Cozad MMA New York that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A solid body kick from Gudas. Gudas throws a leg kick which misses Trap's front leg but catches the back leg as Trap tries to avoid it. Gudas cracks the inside of Trap's front leg. Trap looks winded! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gudas lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Trap tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gudas defends well and Trap ends up having to push Gudas into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Gudas is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Trap tries for a takedown but Gudas manages to get underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round. Trap tries to score a body lock takedown but Gudas shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Roberto Gudas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Trap. Trap turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Trap manages to end up in side control. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Gudas is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Trap's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Gudas regains full guard. Nicely done. Gudas seems keen to control Trap's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Trap preventing the sweep. Gudas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Gudas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We're going to have a standup here because Roberto Gudas wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Gudas throws a nice outside leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Gudas defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Trap. Roberto Gudas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Trap on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Gudas moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. The fighters circle, before Gudas throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Trap's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Gudas lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
