Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dedrick Danns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zalmai Qazi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Qazi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Arab Americans" by Jim Johnston. Zalmai Qazi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dedrick Danns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zalmai Qazi! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danns rushes Qazi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Qazi looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Qazi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Qazi checks a low kick from Danns. Danns really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Qazi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Danns sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Qazi somewhat. Qazi tries to clinch and Danns counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Danns is pushing down on Qazi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Qazi is fighting to maintain full guard but Danns has managed to sneak the leg through. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Danns in particular looking to stall. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Danns wants to get back to his feet.
Danns will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Danns keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danns seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Qazi for as long as he can get away with.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Dedrick Danns wasn't doing enough on the ground. Danns decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Danns is working for a submission of some sort.
Danns content to control rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Danns's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Danns is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Qazi blocking the ground and pound attempt from Danns. Danns perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Danns slips a nice elbow through Qazi's hands, connecting with Qazi's forehead. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Danns in particular looking to stall. Qazi is in trouble now - Danns has advanced to mount! Danns lands a big shot there that rocks Qazi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Danns with a couple of short strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Danns tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Danns landing strikes, looking to finish! Danns controlling his opponent. Danns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Qazi tries to clinch up and Danns holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Danns missing with knees to the body.
Danns pulls guard. Qazi stopping the sweep attempt from Danns. Danns pulls Qazi in to control the position. Qazi won't allow Danns to sweep him here. Danns is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Qazi stopping the sweep attempt from Danns. Qazi is breathing heavily. Danns is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danns stalling. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Danns scoring with strikes to the body and head. Danns is taking a breather. Qazi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dedrick Danns wasn't doing enough on the ground. Danns closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Qazi quickly recovers to half guard. Danns passes the guard and advances to mount! Danns cracks Qazi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Danns looking to control and managing it successfully. Danns is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Qazi can do to turn this around?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Danns has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Danns working for a submission but Qazi is keeping him at bay. Danns with good strikes from the mount here! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Danns sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Danns with the ground and pound from mount. Danns controlling his opponent. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dedrick Danns dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Danns. Danns is chipping away with strikes.
Danns takes a little break here. Qazi wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Danns tries to stand but Qazi is controlling his head. Qazi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Danns passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Qazi!
That's one minute gone in the round. Danns postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Qazi looks a forlorn figure.
Dedrick Danns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Qazi taking shots to the head. Danns controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Danns looking to finish Qazi with some ground and pound. This is bad for Qazi! Danns controlling the pace for now. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Danns lands a big elbow. Qazi has given up his back here.
Danns trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Qazi doesn't escape. Qazi is trying to defend against the choke here but Danns has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Danns Tightens the hold and Qazi taps out furiously! Danns displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
