PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Mclovin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ahmet Sen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ahmet Sen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Mclovin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ahmet Sen!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mclovin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sen connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mclovin scrambles back to his feet.
Mclovin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Mclovin dives in and scores a takedown into Sen's guard.
Sen is trying to keep Mclovin in close.
Mclovin is looking to work some ground and pound but Sen has wrist control.
Mclovin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Mclovin wants to control from the top but Sen keeps moving.

Mclovin drops back looking for a leg! Sen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sen manages to kick Mclovin off! Mclovin jumps back into Sen's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mclovin advances position into side control!
Sen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mclovin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mclovin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mclovin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mclovin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A lull in the action here as Mclovin stalls from top position.

Mclovin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
You can see the frustration on Sen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mclovin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Mclovin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mclovin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Sen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mclovin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mclovin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mclovin throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Sen works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Sen.
Sen throws a leg kick that misses.
Mclovin scores with a hook.
Mclovin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sen as he jumps to the side.
Nice body punch from Mclovin.
Mclovin shoots for a takedown but Sen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Mclovin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sen can do to turn this around?
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sen, as that shot connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mclovin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Mclovin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mclovin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mclovin passes easily into side control. Nice work.
John Mclovin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mclovin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Sen is trying to get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mclovin connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Mclovin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sen is looking to escape.

Mclovin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sen has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Sen is bucking up trying to escape but Mclovin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mclovin controlling the position easily from mount.
Mclovin lands with some strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Mclovin dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A jab from Sen misses.
Mclovin goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sen ducks under a wild hook from Mclovin.

Sen drops Mclovin with a beautiful combination! Mclovin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sen is looking for the KO!


Mclovin is rocked!


It looks like John Mclovin has been cut.
Mclovin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Oh Mclovin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sen connects with a body shot that sends Mclovin's belly button to the back.
Mclovin seems to have got his legs back now.
Mclovin throws a lazy right hand but Sen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sen just misses with a punch to the body.

Oooooh!!! Sen has knocked Mclovin down with a huge combo! Sen steps away and waves a wobbly Mclovin back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Mclovin throws a body punch but Sen moves out of range.
Mclovin misses with a low kick.
Mclovin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mclovin drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Sen swinging wildly here.
Sen lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Mclovin goes down and covers up as Sen starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ahmet Sen!
In his post fight interview, Ahmet Sen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
