Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darin Reed! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Mario! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mario avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Mario has managed to clinch.
Mario manages to pull guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Mario controls Reed momentarily but Reed frees himself. Reed trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mario's guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mario closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mario ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mario no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Mario is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Mario is trying to keep Reed in close.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dan Mario. Mario closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Reed's guard. Reed keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom. Mario wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving. Mario engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reed wants to sweep here but Mario controlling him for the moment. Reed manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mario manages to get himself to full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dan Mario hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Mario gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mario successfully pulls guard.
Mario has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reed can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mario is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Reed throws a big elbow that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reed scoring with some ground and pound. Mario is looking to sweep but instead, Reed has passed into half guard.
Reed is looking for a kimura here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mario is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Mario dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Reed tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mario paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mario avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mario throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Reed tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mario is in Reed's guard. Mario stays in close to Reed's body and controls the position. Reed wants to get back to his feet but Mario is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mario trying to control the position from guard on top but Reed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Reed wants to sweep but no luck. Reed keeping full guard, as Mario tries to pass.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dan Mario. Reed tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mario manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reed tries to close the distance and clinch but Mario swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mario shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Reed napping and manages to drive through into side control! Mario tries to advance to mount but can't. Mario working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Reed tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mario wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Reed takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Reed is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reed tries to bench press Mario off him but Mario keeps the position. Mario is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Reed is trying to escape and Mario transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Reed is forced to tap! Nice work there by Mario! Very nice indeed!
