0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mateo Alvar! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvar darts in looking for a takedown but Morgan gets double underhooks and turns Alvar into the cage. Morgan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Alvar effectively controlling the action here. Alvar looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Alvar has had enough of the clinch but Morgan keeps him there for the moment. Alvar has Morgan pressed against the cage, preventing Morgan from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Morgan wants to get back to striking at distance but Alvar won't allow it.

Morgan gets tackled into the cage by Alvar. Alvar maintains the clinch. Morgan pulls guard effortlessly. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Alvar trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Alvar sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morgan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alvar's guard. Alvar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Morgan defends it easily. Alvar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alvar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Morgan defends well. Morgan wants to control from the top but Alvar keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Nelson Morgan will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Alvar dives in and grabs Morgan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Morgan pushes down on Alvar's head and hops out. Alvar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Morgan defends it nicely. Alvar tries to clinch up but Morgan circles away and keeps his distance. Alvar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Morgan tries to avoid it but Alvar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Morgan to the ground. Morgan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Alvar pushes Morgan against the cage but Morgan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Alvar fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Alvar is breathing heavily. Alvar tries to close the distance and clinch but Morgan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Morgan has managed to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morgan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Alvar.

That's two minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Morgan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Morgan throws a big right hand that misses. Morgan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Alvar is proving hard to escape from. Alvar has his foot on Morgan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Morgan works his way back into a safe position though. Alvar can't keep his opponent in guard - Morgan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Alvar is trying to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Morgan wants to control but Alvar is keeping him busy. Alvar is trying to stand back up but Morgan is controlling him
Morgan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Morgan trying to pass the guard but Alvar defending well. Morgan is trying to control the action in half guard but Alvar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Alvar pushes Morgan off and gets back to his feet. Morgan cracks the inside of Alvar's front leg. Morgan throws the kick towards the body but Alvar avoids it. Morgan keeps the fight on the outside.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No luck for Alvar with that takedown attempt. Alvar shoots in for a takedown but Morgan shows good takedown defense. A nice leg kick lands there from Morgan. Morgan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Alvar. Morgan stuffs the takedown. Morgan throws a nice head kick!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Morgan lands a leg kick that knocks Alvar off balance momentarily. Nelson Morgan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Morgan misses with a double jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alvar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Morgan swivels and escapes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alvar takes a kick to the side of the head. A low kick from Alvar is predictable there and Morgan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Alvar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Morgan circles away. Alvar slips a jab and a cross from Morgan.

That's going to take a lot out of Mateo Alvar. Morgan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alvar. Morgan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Morgan wants it to stay on the feet. Morgan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alvar moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Morgan looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Alvar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Morgan counters with a body kick that stops Alvar in his tracks momentarily. Morgan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alvar swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice body kick there by Morgan. Morgan connects with a solid leg kick. Alvar moves to clinch but Morgan breaks away and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Alvar tries to clinch there but Morgan circles away.
Alvar shoots in but Morgan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morgan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Morgan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alvar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A nice leg kick lands there from Morgan. Alvar is looking to clinch but Morgan is avoiding it.

Alvar's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Alvar moves into the clinch. Alvar tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Morgan's elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. Morgan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Alvar just stands there and leans against the cage. Alvar manages to pull guard.
Alvar has his foot on Morgan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Morgan works his way back into a safe position though. Morgan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Morgan trying to control but Alvar is working from the bottom. The ref stands the fighters back up because Nelson Morgan just wasn't active enough. Morgan blocks a head kick by Alvar.
Mateo Alvar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alvar tries for a takedown but Morgan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Alvar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Morgan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Nelson Morgan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Alvar takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
And that's the end of the fight! Nelson Morgan showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Morgan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
